  1. According to the Talk, what are the places that technology is taking us to, that we don’t want to go?
     Its taking us to places where we are on social media all the time and you care about what's on your website other than what you're really like.
  1. What are some examples of inappropriate use of technology that were mentioned in the Talk?
     Pretending to be someone you're not
  1. What does Ms. Turkle mean by being “Alone Together”?
     Meaning whenever your face is in your phone you might be talking to people but really you're just talking to your phone so you're alone but makes it seem that you're not.
  1. What does she mean by “Hiding From Each Other”?
     Again social media we are hiding from our real selves behind a profile.
  1. How does “conversation connection” happen according to the Talk?
     it happens from starting in conversation then you have a connection from online.
  1. What concern is raised with kids who would rather “Text than Talk”?
     They would have there face in their phone and not have many conversations outside there phone.
  1. What impact does the feeling that “No one is listening” have on people?
     It makes people bottle things up and not talk about it because they think no one is listening.
  1. Why are people tempted by machines that offer companionship?
     People think that machines are always there for them
  1. Why are people expecting more from Technology and less from each other?
     Technology is “always” there and is in your hands all the time and you feel like you cna always have it
  1. What is the illusion of companionship without the demands of friendship?
     There wouldn't be any outside of the phone without all those demands.
  1. What are the 3 things mentioned in the Talk, that we all want, in order to be comfortable and in control? Less technology, More happiness, and less pressure
  1. Being alone feels like a problem that needs to be solved, the Talk mentions the concept of “I share therefore I am”.  Explain what the following perceptions mean:
  • I have a feeling I want to make a call (past)
     
  • I want to have a feeling I need to send a text (current)
     
  1. How does “connection isolation” happen according to the Talk?
     Your becoming more isolated from people
  1. According to the Talk, “solitude is where you find yourself before you reach out to know someone else”.  What do they/you see as the power of this statement?
     Your alone until you reacho out in person and find someone.
  1. How would you explain the following statement from the Talk, “If we don’t teach our children to be alone, they will only know how to be lonely”.
     If you don't leave them alone they will only know how to lonely later in life
  1. How do we make our actual/real life, the life we love?
     Slow down the social Media
  1. Write three additional thoughts/reactions that you had to the Talk.
     Made me realize how much we depend on our phones, How we are on social media, How much we talk in person
